Aotearoa Foundation

The Aotearoa Foundation is an impact-oriented family foundation, focused on creating positive change and strengthening community assets in Hawkes Bay and Northland.

About Us

Founded by Julian H. Robertson, Jr., his wife Josie, and their family, The Aotearoa Foundation has been operating in New Zealand for over a decade.

Philanthropy is a core value long shared by the Robertson family. They provide support for an array of non-profit organisations through the Aotearoa Foundation, through their individual giving, and through affiliated organisations – the Tiger Foundation, The Robertson Foundation, and the Blanche and Julian Robertson Family Foundation.

Historically, Aotearoa Foundation funding has been focused on long term, high impact grants in three principal areas – education, environment and medical research. You can read about some of our past grant recipients below.

In 2023, the board made the decision to pause on new grant-making and review our strategic direction.

Past Grantees

Over the last 10 years, the Aotearoa Foundation has partnered with some incredible organisations. While our funding strategy is changing, we are proud of the work we have supported, and the achievements of our community partners. Here are stories of some of those organisations.
